Is there such a thing as clear theatrical (non prescripiton) contact lenses?

My lil cousin (15 yo) wants them. Why? I dunno. Its her birthday present. I asked her if shes sure and she said she was.Could you tell me where i could get them if they do exist? maybe a link and price? Is there such a thing as clear theatrical (non prescripiton) contact lenses?
She means non prescription colored lenses.

It isn't as easy as going out and buying some though. She needs an eye exam and a fitting done at an optometrist office.

Contacts are a medical device and controlled by federal laws....because they aren't toys and can cause damage to peoples eyes if not properly fit and taken care of.Is there such a thing as clear theatrical (non prescripiton) contact lenses?
She probably wants contact lenses that have a design on them. It comes in nonprescription, clear lenses. However it is stupid to wear contacts if you dont need them because you can develop a serious eye infection which can cause BLINDNESS.

You need to search online for stores that carry them.
They definitely exist -- we use clear contacts with no prescription as 'bandage' contact lenses occasionally. I'm not sure where you'd buy a set of them though, or why you'd want to. Presumably anywhere that sells contacts should be able to order them from their suppliers with no prescription?

  • I accidentally dyed my clear contact lenses brown with tea recently (don't ask!) any idea how i can undo this?

I have been wearing contact lenses for almost 49 years. One of the best things I learned many years ago was an inexpensive way to clean hard contact lenses. It is not used for soft contact lenses. You use baby shampoo. You dilute it about half and half. I soak my lenses in this every night when I take my lenses off. Baby shampoo does not burn your eyes. In the morning, the smudges are completely gone off of your lenses. I would surely try this to remove the tea stains. If this does not remove the tea stains, I would not wear the lenses.I accidentally dyed my clear contact lenses brown with tea recently (don't ask!) any idea how i can undo this?
Try Hydrogen Peroxide. It gets tea stains out of cups and is non-toxic. I would rinse it out thoroughly afterwards though.I accidentally dyed my clear contact lenses brown with tea recently (don't ask!) any idea how i can undo this?
you cant. you have to get new ones. if you put those back in your eyes, then you probably will get a major eye infection, in BOTH eyes. i would just cut my losses.
Don't even think of wearing it anymore in the first place. Are you insane? You wanna go blind then savage a pair of lens?
step away from the contact lenses!

Throw them away. Never never never fool around with your eyes like that. I learned the hard way that if you are not extremely careful with what you put in your eyes (I wasn't as careful with cleaning them as I should have been), and now I am no longer able to wear contact lenses due to microscopic scabs under my eyelids. (feels like a piece of grit that never goes away)

Take great care of your eyes, and use caution with contact lenses!
i am not sure you can undo it. and i'm not sure what the effect of tea is in your eye. can you still put them in? do they look funny? I would replace them, if they are disposables.
are you sure that was a accident ? what happened you were having breakfast and accidentally dropped it in your tea and decided to retrieve it after you finished your meal?
    you can't! buy new ones!
It might soak out in the saline solution, but I doubt it, the tannins in tea are a strong dye. It is probably permanent. Try it in your eye, after you soak it, if it doesn't block your vision, it might be OK.Probably best to just pitch them. Lenses do come in colors. They are dyed by professionals, hint, hint.. LOL, Rivers is fishing for information on how in the world your lenses came in contact with tea.

Come on, tell us. We are all anonymous here, poopsiegig.
ok, you say dont ask... but im soooooo intrigued as to how you could possibly do that!!!
don't wear them anymore..they are no good
make a solution of bicarbonate of soda (you can get it in the supermarket with the home baking products) and soak it in that. Make it quick thick, almost a paste but make sure its not still grainy. Rinse it well afterwards, bi carbonate of soda is harmless to humans but I still recon that it would smart, like anything else, if you got it in your eyes.

    (PS I AM asking???)
Dip them in dilute 'steriliser' - that is bleach used for baby's bottles. Then give them a prolonged soak in water before wearing them.

Hi, I wear contact lenses and I'm intrigued to know how you managed to put your lenses in tea!!!! Were you a little bit out of it? Brahms %26amp; Liszts? LOL
Don't trust us Yahoo's for something like that-call the optometrist and see what they say about it.
Trust me... I have done this also [you can ask if you want to]..

I was advised to use bleach... yup... that's what I thought... but it actually works!

Make sure that you wash them clean with a saline solution after though and then rinse them with distilled water.
    um...throw it away
For the sake of your vision, don't even try!

    Chuck 'em out, start again.

A tip? The little pot that has two receptacles, one possibly marked with R and one marked L or with a heart symbol, is the one that is ok to put the lenses in. The bigger pot, that can be hot to the touch and has a handle and steam coming out of the spout, not recommended for soaking contact lenses.

Will an image be clearer through a telescope if the lenses have a shorter or longer focal length?

My sis needs it for a science report :)Will an image be clearer through a telescope if the lenses have a shorter or longer focal length?
For a given lens diameter (aperture), less precision is needed in grinding the lens if the focal length is longer. Therefor, it is more expensive to get the same clarity with a shorter focal length. If you pay the same money for two lenses, the one with the longer focal length probably makes a sharper image. However, the cost of the whole telescope may be more because it needs a longer tube.

You get more magnification by having an objective lens with a long focal length and an ocular lens with a short focal length.

Most astronomical telescopes use a mirror instead of an objective lens because mirrors don't have as many kinds of aberrations as lenses do.

Is it normal to continously go from clear to blurry vision with toric contact lenses?

I've been wearing toric contact lenses for astigmatism for 3 years now. The new eye Dr I saw recently made some changes to the prescription, and now the new lenses cause my vision to go from clear to blurry all day long. Sometimes it will be one eye, then it will be the other, but it never stabilizes. He is certain he got the prescription correct, but this is really annoying. Can something be changed to the Rx (such as the fit) to make my vision more consistant? Is it normal to continously go from clear to blurry vision with toric contact lenses?
Sounds like the lenses are maybe rotating more than they should and going off axis at times when you blink .

Torics are very difficult to diagnose what the problem could be without actually seeing them on the persons eyes.

Did he switch brands or base curve from what you always had ? If one of those were changed, that opens a whole new can of worms....lol

Your Doc has all the info and what changes he made...there really isn't an obvious solution that can be found without actually seeing them and knowing the history.

    ****

There ya go...changing the axis 20 or 30 degrees looks like the culprit. Most likely the lenses don't center well anymore and rotate to a wrong axis now. But they should be able to see that while you are wearing them on your follow up visit...

If i wear contacts lenses in the pool, will i be able to see clear like goggles?

Nobody ever stars me anymore :(If i wear contacts lenses in the pool, will i be able to see clear like goggles?
No It would probably burn like hell.If i wear contacts lenses in the pool, will i be able to see clear like goggles?
no they would fall off, and your eyes will burn!
Well I was about to star you until I saw that last bit. Go beg some one else.
No, The chlorine in the pool will damage them, and burn your eyes. After getting in the pool with them, you'll still have to have your goggles....to look for your lenses...they'll be long gone.

    OK here's a star. * lol
The thing is that lenses aren't recommended for pools. They can slip out of your eyes. When you keep eyes open. And if you keep your eyes shut - you can see nothing.
unless you wear goggle your contact lenses will float away, but I don't think TROLLS wear contact enses
nope -- they will most likely lost....
Could lose em, under the water.
There's a good chance your contacts will detach and simply float away.

I wore contacts while swimming in the Pacific once....a wave knocked one of my contacts right off! I was laughing until I realized it was a problem.
nooooooooo... do not open your eyes under water with contacts in...they will come out.
No you won't. Don't wear your contacts in a pool because the chemicals in the pool damage the contacts.
    no

On a hot, dry day, set them on something black outside. This should evaporate all the water.

    Hope this helped,

The seal between the lenses is broken and moisture got in. Yiu will need to get a new lens. This may be covered under warranty. There is no way to keep the lens from fogging. Moisture will eventually enter

My eyeglass lenses have turned milky white.does anyone know how to clear them up please.thanks.?

It must be defective coatings on the lenses.

So there will be no way to fix it without replacing them.

The place you got them may replace them free if they aren't too old.My eyeglass lenses have turned milky white.does anyone know how to clear them up please.thanks.?
