How do you remove scratches from plastic lenses or similar clear plastic coverings?

i use an insulin pump for my diabetes and the clear plastic over the read outs scrathes to the point it's almost impossible to read.... I had it exchanged once by the supplyer .... but I'm sure he charged med-caere severaL HUNDRED BUCKS instead of just replacing a 25 cent piece of plastic.... Home remedy???? store bought remedy ?? where ?? just trying to save medicare for others coming down the pike
