Are contact lenses supposed to be clear right away?

I have an astigmatism and just started wearing contact lenses. It is only my 3rd day wearing them but my vision is nowhere near as clear as with my glasses.

Does it take time for your eyes to get used to contacts to give you clear vision or does it mean I have the wrong prescription?

Did you see clearly right away when you first started wearing contacts? Are contact lenses supposed to be clear right away?
Do contact your doctor ASAP, as mentioned, something is wrong and you need to have the doctor check the axis angle of your toric contacts--I am sure this is probably what the problem is. They should not be blurry except for the first few minutes in your eyes. If blurriness last longer than this, the fit is not right.

With contacts your vision should be better than with your glasses. However toric contact lenses for astigmatism require a bit more work in fitting, and your doctor should have checked the axis rotation before you even left the office.

If the axis angle turns out to be good, then ask about trying another brand of toric lens, as they can vary quite a bit and work differently on different eyes.

My OD fit me with Purevision toric lenses almost two weeks ago (my fist CL's for astigmatism). She had to adjust the angle twice in her office, but before leaving after the initial toric fitting, they were right on the money, and I have had no lens rotation problems at all in almost two weeks. When your doctor gets the fit and material right, modern toric designs can be amazing for us astigmatic patients...!

My vision with these Purevision torics have been phenomenal--I can read billboards from half a mile away and everything is so much more crisp and clear than it was with regular spherical lenses ( and I only have one diopter of cylinder correction)...Are contact lenses supposed to be clear right away?
I'd say that you have the wrong prescription. You should be able to see clearly at the right moment you put them on. Consult with optometrist.
. Your vision should be clearer with contacts than with glasses, well it was for me but my glasses were always filthy! lol. The only suggestions that i can think of , having worn contacts for over 10 years now, would be that you may have put the lenses in your eyese inside out(unlikely really as this would be quite uncomfortable) or your prescription for them is incorrect. I would visit your optometrist as soon as you can can get them to check it out, possibly wear your glasses for the moment if you feel your vision is too blurry with the contact lenses. xxx
Do u wear a toric lense. Meaning is a lenses made for people with astigmatsim. If u r not wearing then is becos the astigmatism is not corrected thats y the vision is not as clear as spects. Toric lenses are great. do try either soflens toric or purevision toric. They are great in offering sharp and clear image.
Hopefully your eye doctor has set up a time for you to come back and finalize your prescription. With astigmatism, we often need to tweak the prescription and adjust for the contact lens rotation. If you don't have a contact lens check set up already, call your doctor and let him know that you don't see clearly!
